This book grew out of the urge the author felt to acquaint future tourists with Genoa as she saw it. Yet it is also aimed at Genoese readers who are curious to see their city through the eyes of someone discovering it for the first time, as well as at people, like her, who are driven by the desire to be able to open the window and contemplate the sea every day. In the pages of this book you can admire unexplored glimpses of the city, fresh perspectives on the interiors and exteriors of its elegant houses, and shots of alleys that climb so high they almost touch the sky.
